Is counsel perished from the prudent? Is their wisdom vanished? - [49:8](https://md.mova.elamur.ai/free/en/corpora/neviim/JER.49.8/) — נֻסוּ הָפְנוּ הֶעְמִיקוּ לָשֶׁבֶת יֹשְׁבֵי דְּדָן כִּי אֵיד עֵשָׂו הֵבֵאתִי עָלָיו עֵת פְּקַדְתִּֽיו׃ — Flee ye, turn back, dwell deep, O inhabitants of Dedan; For I do bring the calamity of Esau upon him, the time that I shall punish him. - [49:9](https://md.mova.elamur.ai/free/en/corpora/neviim/JER.49.9/) — אִם־בֹּֽצְרִים בָּאוּ לָךְ לֹא יַשְׁאִרוּ עֽוֹלֵלוֹת אִם־גַּנָּבִים בַּלַּיְלָה הִשְׁחִיתוּ דַיָּֽם׃ — If grape-gatherers came to thee, would they not leave some gleaning grapes? thou shalt not go unpunished, but thou shalt surely drink. - [49:13](https://md.mova.elamur.ai/free/en/corpora/neviim/JER.49.13/) — כִּי בִי נִשְׁבַּעְתִּי נְאֻם־יְהוָה כִּֽי־לְשַׁמָּה לְחֶרְפָּה לְחֹרֶב וְלִקְלָלָה תִּֽהְיֶה בָצְרָה וְכָל־עָרֶיהָ תִהְיֶינָה לְחָרְבוֹת עוֹלָֽם׃ — For I have sworn by Myself, saith the LORD, that Bozrah shall become an astonishment, a reproach, a waste, and a curse; and all the cities thereof shall be perpetual wastes. - [49:14](https://md.mova.elamur.ai/free/en/corpora/neviim/JER.49.14/) — שְׁמוּעָה שָׁמַעְתִּי מֵאֵת יְהוָה וְצִיר בַּגּוֹיִם שָׁלוּחַ הִֽתְקַבְּצוּ וּבֹאוּ עָלֶיהָ וְקוּמוּ לַמִּלְחָמָֽה׃ — I have heard a message from the LORD, and an ambassador is sent among the nations: 'Gather yourselves together, and come against her, and rise up to the battle.' - [49:15](https://md.mova.elamur.ai/free/en/corpora/neviim/JER.49.15/) — כִּֽי־הִנֵּה קָטֹן נְתַתִּיךָ בַּגּוֹיִם בָּזוּי בָּאָדָֽם׃ — For, behold, I make thee small among the nations, and despised among men. - [49:16](https://md.mova.elamur.ai/free/en/corpora/neviim/JER.49.16/) — תִּֽפְלַצְתְּךָ הִשִּׁיא אֹתָךְ זְדוֹן לִבֶּךָ שֹֽׁכְנִי בְּחַגְוֵי הַסֶּלַע תֹּפְשִׂי מְרוֹם גִּבְעָה כִּֽי־תַגְבִּיהַ כַּנֶּשֶׁר קִנֶּךָ מִשָּׁם אֽוֹרִידְךָ נְאֻם־יְהוָֽה׃ — Thy terribleness hath deceived thee, even the pride of thy heart, O thou that dwellest in the clefts of the rock, that holdest the height of the hill; though thou shouldest make thy nest as high as the eagle, I will bring thee down from thence, saith the LORD. - [49:17](https://md.mova.elamur.ai/free/en/corpora/neviim/JER.49.17/) — וְהָיְתָה אֱדוֹם לְשַׁמָּה כֹּל עֹבֵר עָלֶיהָ יִשֹּׁם וְיִשְׁרֹק עַל־כָּל־מַכּוֹתֶֽהָ׃ — And Edom shall become an astonishment; every one that passeth by it shall be astonished and shall hiss at all the plagues thereof. - [49:18](https://md.mova.elamur.ai/free/en/corpora/neviim/JER.49.18/) — כְּֽמַהְפֵּכַת סְדֹם וַעֲמֹרָה וּשְׁכֵנֶיהָ אָמַר יְהוָה לֹֽא־יֵשֵׁב שָׁם אִישׁ וְלֹֽא־יָגוּר בָּהּ בֶּן־אָדָֽם׃ — As in the overthrow of Sodom and Gomorrah and the neighbour cities thereof, saith the LORD, no man shall abide there, neither shall any son of man dwell therein. - [49:19](https://md.mova.elamur.ai/free/en/corpora/neviim/JER.49.19/) — הִנֵּה כְּאַרְיֵה יַעֲלֶה מִגְּאוֹן הַיַּרְדֵּן אֶל־נְוֵה אֵיתָן כִּֽי־אַרְגִּיעָה אֲרִיצֶנּוּ מֵֽעָלֶיהָ וּמִי בָחוּר אֵלֶיהָ אֶפְקֹד כִּי מִי כָמוֹנִי וּמִי יֹעִידֶנִּי וּמִי־זֶה רֹעֶה אֲשֶׁר יַעֲמֹד לְפָנָֽי׃ס — Behold, he shall come up like a lion from the thickets of the Jordan against the strong habitation; for I will suddenly make him run away from it, and whoso is chosen, him will I appoint over it; for who is like Me? and who will appoint Me a time? and who is that shepherd that will stand before Me? - [49:20](https://md.mova.elamur.ai/free/en/corpora/neviim/JER.49.20/) — לָכֵן שִׁמְעוּ עֲצַת־יְהוָה אֲשֶׁר יָעַץ אֶל־אֱדוֹם וּמַחְשְׁבוֹתָיו אֲשֶׁר חָשַׁב אֶל־יֹשְׁבֵי תֵימָן אִם־לֹא יִסְחָבוּם צְעִירֵי הַצֹּאן אִם־לֹא יַשִּׁים עֲלֵיהֶם נְוֵהֶֽם׃ — Therefore hear ye the counsel of the LORD, that He hath taken against Edom; and His purposes, that He hath purposed against the inhabitants of Teman: Surely the least of the flock shall drag them away, surely their habitation shall be appalled at them. - [49:21](https://md.mova.elamur.ai/free/en/corpora/neviim/JER.49.21/) — מִקּוֹל נִפְלָם רָעֲשָׁה הָאָרֶץ צְעָקָה בְּיַם־סוּף נִשְׁמַע קוֹלָֽהּ׃ — The earth quaketh at the noise of their fall; there is a cry, the noise whereof is heard in the Red Sea. - [49:22](https://md.mova.elamur.ai/free/en/corpora/neviim/JER.49.22/) — הִנֵּה כַנֶּשֶׁר יַעֲלֶה וְיִדְאֶה וְיִפְרֹשׂ כְּנָפָיו עַל־בָּצְרָה וְֽהָיָה לֵב גִּבּוֹרֵי אֱדוֹם בַּיּוֹם הַהוּא כְּלֵב אִשָּׁה מְצֵרָֽה׃ס — Behold, he shall come up and swoop down as the vulture, and spread out his wings against Bozrah; and the heart of the mighty men of Edom at that day shall be as the heart of a woman in her pangs. - [49:23](https://md.mova.elamur.ai/free/en/corpora/neviim/JER.49.23/) — לְדַמֶּשֶׂק בּוֹשָֽׁה חֲמָת וְאַרְפָּד כִּי־שְׁמֻעָה רָעָה שָׁמְעוּ נָמֹגוּ בַּיָּם דְּאָגָה הַשְׁקֵט לֹא יוּכָֽל׃ — Hamath is ashamed, and Arpad; for they have heard evil tidings, they are melted away; there is trouble in the sea; it cannot be quiet. - [49:24](https://md.mova.elamur.ai/free/en/corpora/neviim/JER.49.24/) — רָפְתָה דַמֶּשֶׂק הִפְנְתָה לָנוּס וְרֶטֶט ׀ הֶחֱזִיקָה צָרָה וַחֲבָלִים אֲחָזַתָּה כַּיּוֹלֵדָֽה׃ — Damascus is waxed feeble, she turneth herself to flee, and trembling hath seized on her; anguish and pangs have taken hold of her, as of a woman in travail. - [49:25](https://md.mova.elamur.ai/free/en/corpora/neviim/JER.49.25/) — אֵיךְ לֹֽא־עֻזְּבָה עִיר תְּהִלָּת קִרְיַת מְשׂוֹשִֽׂי׃ — 'How is the city of praise left unrepaired, the city of my joy?' - [49:26](https://md.mova.elamur.ai/free/en/corpora/neviim/JER.49.26/) — לָכֵן יִפְּלוּ בַחוּרֶיהָ בִּרְחֹבֹתֶיהָ וְכָל־אַנְשֵׁי הַמִּלְחָמָה יִדַּמּוּ בַּיּוֹם הַהוּא נְאֻם יְהוָה צְבָאֽוֹת׃ — Therefore her young men shall fall in her broad places, and all the men of war shall be brought to silence in that day, saith the LORD of hosts. - [49:27](https://md.mova.elamur.ai/free/en/corpora/neviim/JER.49.27/) — וְהִצַּתִּי אֵשׁ בְּחוֹמַת דַּמָּשֶׂק וְאָכְלָה אַרְמְנוֹת בֶּנ־הֲדָֽדבֶּנ־הֲדָֽד׃ס — And I will kindle a fire in the wall of Damascus, and it shall devour the palaces of Ben-hadad. - [49:28](https://md.mova.elamur.ai/free/en/corpora/neviim/JER.49.28/) — לְקֵדָר ׀ וּֽלְמַמְלְכוֹת חָצוֹר אֲשֶׁר הִכָּה נְבֽוּכַדְרֶאצַּר מֶֽלֶךְ־בָּבֶל כֹּה אָמַר יְהוָה קוּמוּ עֲלוּ אֶל־קֵדָר וְשָׁדְדוּ אֶת־בְּנֵי־קֶֽדֶם׃ — Of Kedar, and of the kingdoms of Hazor, which Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon smote.
