- [0](https://md.mova.elamur.ai/free/en/corpora/school/biology/123-bugs-bunny-and-daffy-duck-real-rabbits-hares-and-ducks/0/) — Bugs Bunny munches a carrot and asks «What's up, Doc?», but a real wild rabbit fills up on grass, clover and leafy plants, and carrots are only a small sugary treat.
- [2](https://md.mova.elamur.ai/free/en/corpora/school/biology/123-bugs-bunny-and-daffy-duck-real-rabbits-hares-and-ducks/2/) — Real rabbits are full of surprises: they thump a back foot to warn the warren, see almost all the way round, do happy twisting jumps called binkies, and even eat their own soft droppings to digest food twice.
- [3](https://md.mova.elamur.ai/free/en/corpora/school/biology/123-bugs-bunny-and-daffy-duck-real-rabbits-hares-and-ducks/3/) — Daffy Duck shouts all day, but real ducks are mostly calm; oil from a gland near the tail keeps them waterproof, and a clever blood system stops their feet freezing on ice.
- [4](https://md.mova.elamur.ai/free/en/corpora/school/biology/123-bugs-bunny-and-daffy-duck-real-rabbits-hares-and-ducks/4/) — At the park, ducklings follow their mother in a line, ducks tip upside down to dabble for food, and bread is the worst thing to throw them, while oats, peas or sweetcorn are much better.
- [5](https://md.mova.elamur.ai/free/en/corpora/school/biology/123-bugs-bunny-and-daffy-duck-real-rabbits-hares-and-ducks/5/) — Wild rabbits mostly eat grass, clover and leafy plants; carrots are sugary and should be only a small treat for pet rabbits.
- [6](https://md.mova.elamur.ai/free/en/corpora/school/biology/123-bugs-bunny-and-daffy-duck-real-rabbits-hares-and-ducks/6/) — Jackrabbits are hares; hares are bigger than rabbits, with longer ears and legs, and live above ground in nests in grass.
- [7](https://md.mova.elamur.ai/free/en/corpora/school/biology/123-bugs-bunny-and-daffy-duck-real-rabbits-hares-and-ducks/7/) — Baby hares are born furry with open eyes and can hop soon after birth, while baby rabbits are born bare and blind underground.
- [8](https://md.mova.elamur.ai/free/en/corpora/school/biology/123-bugs-bunny-and-daffy-duck-real-rabbits-hares-and-ducks/8/) — A rabbit thumps its back foot to warn other rabbits of danger, and the thud travels through the ground into the burrow.
- [9](https://md.mova.elamur.ai/free/en/corpora/school/biology/123-bugs-bunny-and-daffy-duck-real-rabbits-hares-and-ducks/9/) — A rabbit's eyes are high on the sides of its head, so it can see almost all the way round, with only a small blind spot in front of its nose.
- [10](https://md.mova.elamur.ai/free/en/corpora/school/biology/123-bugs-bunny-and-daffy-duck-real-rabbits-hares-and-ducks/10/) — A happy rabbit's jump-and-twist is called a binky, and it shows the rabbit feels safe and lively.
- [11](https://md.mova.elamur.ai/free/en/corpora/school/biology/123-bugs-bunny-and-daffy-duck-real-rabbits-hares-and-ducks/11/) — Rabbits eat their soft droppings to digest their food a second time and get out vitamins missed the first time; their teeth never stop growing, and chewing tough grass all day wears them down.
- [13](https://md.mova.elamur.ai/free/en/corpora/school/biology/123-bugs-bunny-and-daffy-duck-real-rabbits-hares-and-ducks/13/) — Ducks spread oil from a gland near the tail over their feathers when they preen, so water rolls off, and dry down underneath traps warm air; thick spilled oil from a ship is different, as it clumps the feathers so water gets in, and an oiled duck gets cold and may sink.
- [14](https://md.mova.elamur.ai/free/en/corpora/school/biology/123-bugs-bunny-and-daffy-duck-real-rabbits-hares-and-ducks/14/) — In a duck's legs, warm blood going down heats the cold blood coming back, so the feet stay just warm enough not to freeze on ice.
- [15](https://md.mova.elamur.ai/free/en/corpora/school/biology/123-bugs-bunny-and-daffy-duck-real-rabbits-hares-and-ducks/15/) — Ducklings follow the first moving thing they see after hatching, usually their mother; this is called imprinting.
- [16](https://md.mova.elamur.ai/free/en/corpora/school/biology/123-bugs-bunny-and-daffy-duck-real-rabbits-hares-and-ducks/16/) — Bread fills ducks with little goodness and rotting leftovers dirty the pond; oats, peas, sweetcorn or duck food are better.
- [17](https://md.mova.elamur.ai/free/en/corpora/school/biology/123-bugs-bunny-and-daffy-duck-real-rabbits-hares-and-ducks/17/) — A duck that tips upside down with its tail up is dabbling, reaching for plants and small animals just below the surface; diving ducks go right under.
