- [0](https://md.mova.elamur.ai/free/en/corpora/school/world/23-flowers-and-seeds/0/) — A flower is how a plant makes seeds.
- [1](https://md.mova.elamur.ai/free/en/corpora/school/world/23-flowers-and-seeds/1/) — In its middle are the stamens, which make a fine powder called pollen, and the pistil, which holds tiny eggs called ovules.
- [2](https://md.mova.elamur.ai/free/en/corpora/school/world/23-flowers-and-seeds/2/) — Pollination happens when pollen gets carried from the stamens to the sticky top of a pistil, usually of another flower of the same kind; bees, butterflies, birds and the wind carry it.
- [3](https://md.mova.elamur.ai/free/en/corpora/school/world/23-flowers-and-seeds/3/) — After pollination, the pollen and the ovule join (fertilisation), the ovule becomes a seed, and the part around it grows into a fruit.
- [4](https://md.mova.elamur.ai/free/en/corpora/school/world/23-flowers-and-seeds/4/) — Seeds must travel away from their parent, so the young plants do not compete with it for light and water: dandelion seeds fly on little parachutes, burdock burrs hook onto fur, coconuts float, and berries are eaten by birds and dropped far away.
- [5](https://md.mova.elamur.ai/free/en/corpora/school/world/23-flowers-and-seeds/5/) — Stamens are the parts of a flower that make pollen.
- [7](https://md.mova.elamur.ai/free/en/corpora/school/world/23-flowers-and-seeds/7/) — Pollination is the carrying of pollen to the pistil of a flower.
- [8](https://md.mova.elamur.ai/free/en/corpora/school/world/23-flowers-and-seeds/8/) — Bright petals, scent and nectar, a sweet sugary juice, attract insects that carry pollen.
- [9](https://md.mova.elamur.ai/free/en/corpora/school/world/23-flowers-and-seeds/9/) — Bees feed on nectar and pollen, and carry pollen from flower to flower on their hairy bodies.
- [10](https://md.mova.elamur.ai/free/en/corpora/school/world/23-flowers-and-seeds/10/) — Grasses and many trees are pollinated by the wind and have small, dull flowers with lots of light pollen; they make huge amounts because most of it blows away and never reaches another flower.
- [11](https://md.mova.elamur.ai/free/en/corpora/school/world/23-flowers-and-seeds/11/) — After fertilisation the ovules become seeds and the flower's ovary, the swollen bottom part of the pistil, grows into a fruit.
- [12](https://md.mova.elamur.ai/free/en/corpora/school/world/23-flowers-and-seeds/12/) — Seeds travel away from the parent plant so that young plants have room, light and water.
- [13](https://md.mova.elamur.ai/free/en/corpora/school/world/23-flowers-and-seeds/13/) — Some seeds are carried by the wind, like dandelion and maple seeds.
- [14](https://md.mova.elamur.ai/free/en/corpora/school/world/23-flowers-and-seeds/14/) — Some seeds hook onto animals' fur, like burdock burrs.
- [16](https://md.mova.elamur.ai/free/en/corpora/school/world/23-flowers-and-seeds/16/) — Some seeds float on water, like coconuts, and some are shot out when the pod bursts open, like peas and some beans.
