# Targum Onkelos: the commonest words

<!-- .meta -->
The 300 commonest words of Targum Onkelos, the Aramaic translation of the Torah (Sefaria's text, public domain), each with its entry in Jastrow's dictionary of 1903 (public domain, via Sefaria). The written forms of the Targum are matched to Jastrow's headwords (the headword itself, without dagesh, after a one-letter prefix ו ד ל ב, or by consonants when Jastrow cites one of the verses), and the forms of one entry make one word. The examples set a verse of Onkelos beside the Hebrew verse it translates, word for word and JPS 1917.
