### sense in the lessons

In the Tanakh and Jewish tradition: In the Torah "arms" is mostly the body part, often as a picture of God's strength and care, as in "everlasting arms". Later books use arms for human strength, such as Samson's arms or a woman's strong arms, and broken arms mean losing power. Interpretation: Tradition reads "the everlasting arms" as God's protection holding Israel up. The broken arms of the fatherless in Job is read as a picture of the powerless wronged by the strong. In Sefer Yetzirah "arms" are a picture of the directions that stretch out from the universe. In the primary lessons: In science and PE: stretch your arms, swing your arms when you run; an octopus has eight arms. In everyday life: hug with open arms; carry something in your arms. In history: «arms» (weapons), «coat of arms» on shields and flags. Phrases: in your arms, with open arms, arm in arm, up in arms (very angry about something), fold your arms, keep your arms inside, coat of arms.
