### sense in the lessons

In the Tanakh and Jewish tradition: Jacob wakes from his dream of the ladder and says God was in the place. In the psalms the poet cries "Awake, why sleepest Thou, O Lord?" as a figure of speech, asking God to help, and also wakes his own harp and glory to praise. Interpretation: The tradition teaches that God's presence can be found anywhere, even where we do not expect it. It reads God's "sleeping" as only how things seem to people in trouble, since God does not sleep. The call to awake the dawn is read as a person rising early to praise God. In the primary lessons: In everyday life and health, children who lie awake at night can feel sleepy at school; screens before bed can keep you awake. In science, nocturnal animals like owls and bats are awake at night and asleep in the day. In safety, drivers must stay awake and alert. In stories, «she lay awake listening to the storm» builds suspense, and fairy tales use «awoke».
