### sense in the lessons

In the Tanakh and Jewish tradition: In the Torah it can mean free from guilt or blame, as in "clear from iniquity." In the Psalms and Job it can also mean to remove or make room, and to be bright, as in life clearer than noonday. Interpretation: The law of the suspected wife ends with her being cleared if she is innocent. Tradition reads this as protection for the innocent. The Psalmist asks God to clear him from hidden faults, read as a prayer for pardon of sins one does not know of. In the primary lessons: In science: transparent (clear) materials let light through — glass, clear plastic, water; opaque ones do not. In school: write clearly, clear explanations. In safety: keep clear of the edge, train tracks and machines; a clear path for fire exits; make sure the road is clear before crossing. Phrases: clear the table, clear up, keep clear, clear as day, clear sky, all clear, make it clear.
