### sense in the lessons

In the Tanakh and Jewish tradition: The neck opening or edge of a garment, as in "collar of my coat". Interpretation: In Psalm 133 the holy oil flowing to the collar of Aaron's robe is read by the tradition as a picture of the blessing of brothers dwelling together in unity. In the primary lessons: Everyday: school shirts have collars; dog and cat collars carry a name tag with a phone number in case the pet gets lost; a cat collar should be a safety «break-away» one so it does not get caught. In science, some animals have coloured «collars» of fur or feathers round their neck. Phrases: «shirt collar», «turn up your collar», «dog collar», «hot under the collar» (angry or embarrassed), «white-collar / blue-collar» (office or manual jobs).
