In the Tanakh and Jewish tradition: Trust or hope placed in God or in other things, such as wealth or false gods. Interpretation: The tradition teaches that true confidence (bitachon) belongs in God alone, and Job and Proverbs warn that other kinds are weak as a spider's web. In the primary lessons: In school and wellbeing lessons, confidence grows by practising, making mistakes and trying again (a growth mindset). In maths and science, being confident means you can explain your answer.
