### sense in the lessons

In the Tanakh and Jewish tradition: It means something false and empty, such as idols, or lies that people want to hear. Interpretation: Jeremiah calls idols a work of delusion that will perish. Tradition reads this as the prophets' firm rejection of idol worship and of false comfort.
