Pronounced «drowt» (rhymes with «out»), not «drot». The «gh» is silent. Do not confuse with «draught» (UK: a cold current of air) or «drought» with «flood» (its opposite). In maths, drought problems often use rainfall data: compare monthly totals to the usual average.
