In the primary lessons: In science, sunlight (ultraviolet light) breaks down dyes, so colours fade over time; this can be tested by leaving coloured paper in the sun. Light fades at dusk, and sounds fade as you move away from them. In health, a bruise fades as it heals; a rash that does not fade when a glass is pressed on it needs urgent help (the glass test).
