### sense in the lessons

In the Tanakh and Jewish tradition: "Find favour in the sight of" someone means to be liked and treated kindly. "Favour a poor man" means to take his side unfairly in a case. Interpretation: Judges must be fair and must not favour either rich or poor. Finding favour in someone's eyes is read as a sign of God's help. In the primary lessons: In manners lessons pupils ask politely: «Could you do me a favour?» and return favours. In class votes «all in favour» raise hands. In fairness lessons a teacher should not favour one pupil. Phrases: do someone a favour, ask a favour, in favour of, in your favour, return the favour, favourite.
