In the Tanakh and Jewish tradition: The fiftieth year is the jubilee year, when the land rested and was not sown. Interpretation: Tradition counts seven cycles of seven years and then makes the fiftieth year holy: slaves were freed and land went back to its families. It was a year of fairness and rest. In the primary lessons: In maths it is the ordinal of 50 and also a fraction: one fiftieth = 1/50 = 0.02 = 2%. In everyday life it is used for birthdays and anniversaries: «Grandpa's fiftieth».
