### sense in the lessons

In the Tanakh and Jewish tradition: Gad was a son of Jacob by Zilpah, and the tribe that came from him; it settled east of the Jordan. Gad was also the name of David's seer, a prophet who gave him God's word, and a place name appears in Beth-gader. Interpretation: Tradition says the name means "luck" or "troop," and Gad is one of the twelve tribes. The prophet Gad is seen as one of the seers who helped David and wrote of his reign. In the primary lessons: in old tales, a rude or surprised shout; «gad about» means to roam without purpose
