### sense in the lessons

In the Tanakh and Jewish tradition: It means to plead with God or a ruler on behalf of others. In Isaiah, God says that no one will plead for Babylon. Interpretation: Tradition sees prophets such as Abraham and Moses as people who interceded for others, and so this verse shows how severe Babylon's punishment is.
