### sense in the lessons

Interpretation: The story of Babel tells how one language was split into many. Jewish tradition often calls Hebrew the "holy tongue", through which God created the world. In Daniel the "peoples, nations and languages" are read as the whole world, and in Psalm 114 Egypt's "strange language" shows how foreign the place was to Israel. In the primary lessons: pupils or people sorted by the languages they speak; books in each language; in school: English language lessons, learning a foreign language; in everyday life: many families speak two languages at home; phrases: «first language», «foreign language», «body language», «sign language», «mind your language»
