### sense in the lessons

In the Tanakh and Jewish tradition: A leaf is also used as a picture of weakness or ruin, such as a driven leaf or a fading terebinth, and the doors of the Temple had "leaves", meaning the folding panels of a door. Interpretation: Adam and Eve sewed fig leaves into clothes, and the dove brought Noah an olive leaf, which is seen as a sign of peace and new life. Job's "driven leaf" is read as the human being, frail before God, and Isaiah's fading leaf as a warning to those who turn from Him. In the primary lessons: In maths, leaves are things counted on plants or trees; leaves per plant is a group size, and falling leaves are taken away. In science, leaves make food for the plant from sunlight, water and air (photosynthesis), and many trees drop their leaves in autumn (fall). Phrases: «turn over a new leaf» (start behaving better), «take a leaf out of someone's book» (copy their good example).
