In the Tanakh and Jewish tradition: A Levite is a member of the tribe of Levi, who served at the sanctuary and received no land but were supported by tithes. Interpretation: The tradition teaches the people to care for the Levite, and not forsake him, as he serves all of Israel. In the primary lessons: In religion lessons the Levite in the Good Samaritan story shows that being religious is not enough; you must also show love to your neighbour.
