In the Tanakh and Jewish tradition: In the Torah a new house must have a parapet on its flat roof, so that no one falls off and brings blood-guilt on the house. Interpretation: Tradition reads this as a command to protect life: one must remove dangers from one's home. The rabbis extended it to any hazard, such as an uncovered pit. In the primary lessons: in stories, a bridge or castle wall where a creature rests a claw or a fox leans over; on a roof, a safety wall
