### sense in the lessons

In the Tanakh and Jewish tradition: Places are named for events, like Beer-sheba; "the place which the LORD shall choose" is later understood as Jerusalem. "High places" were often hilltop shrines, and Jonathan is mourned as slain on them. Interpretation: "The Place" (HaMakom) became a name for God, since God is the place of the world and the world is not God's place. In the primary lessons: to put a thing on the table («I place one cup on the table»: the count goes up); «places N on each of M» = equal groups (multiply); in maths place value (ones, tens, hundreds); in sport first, second, third place; in everyday life «take place» (happen), «in place of» (instead of), «all over the place»
