### sense in the lessons

In the Tanakh and Jewish tradition: In the Torah a prince is a chief or leader, such as the head of a tribe or a father's house, or a ruler sent by a king. In the Prophets and Writings it also means a leader of the people or a judge, and princes are often those who govern with kings. Interpretation: Each tribe's prince brought offerings at the dedication of the altar, which shows the tribes' equal honor. Proverbs is read as saying that true rulers must rule with justice. In the primary lessons: In fairy tales the prince rescues someone, goes on a quest or marries a princess; but modern stories also show princesses rescuing princes. In history and current life, real princes belong to royal families (for example in the UK). Phrases: Prince Charming, the Little Prince, crown prince (the one who will be king).
