### sense in the lessons

In the Tanakh and Jewish tradition: In the Tanakh a foot slipping is a picture of falling into danger or trouble. The psalmists thank God that their feet have not slipped, because He keeps them on His paths. In the Torah, the slipping of an enemy's foot means their downfall is near. Interpretation: The tradition reads feet that do not slip as God's protection of the righteous, and the psalmist's near slip as nearly losing faith when the wicked prosper. In the primary lessons: In safety: wet floors, ice and spills make people slip — wipe spills, walk don't run by the pool, wear shoes with grip; «Caution: wet floor» signs. In Australian sun safety: «Slip, slop, slap» (slip on a shirt, slop on sunscreen, slap on a hat). In school: a permission slip for a trip. Phrases: slip over, slip on, slip away, slip up (make a mistake), a slip of the tongue, let it slip (tell a secret by accident), permission slip, slippery.
