### note

«some» hides the unknown number; the verb tells if things came or went. Trap: «some flew away, N left» asks for start − N. «some» goes in yes sentences and offers; «any» goes in questions and «not» sentences: I have some, I don't have any. «some 30» means about 30. «a certain number of» and «a portion of» in an exam are the same hidden number. Do not mix «some» with «sum» (a total): they sound the same.
