### sense in the lessons

In the Tanakh and Jewish tradition: The Torah commands that a sorceress must not be allowed to live. Isaiah uses "sons of the sorceress" as an insult for people who act like idol-worshippers. Interpretation: Tradition understands this as a very strong ban on witchcraft, and the rabbis limited it to those who really practised harmful magic. Isaiah's words are read as calling the people to turn from such ways. In the primary lessons: a magic woman in fairy tales, often a witch-like figure who is wise, powerful or wicked; in tales a sorceress is often the one who sets the spell or the test
