In the Tanakh and Jewish tradition: In Proverbs it appears in warnings that liars, false witnesses and adulterers will not escape the consequences of their deeds. Interpretation: Tradition reads this as teaching that God's justice is certain, and that wrongdoing brings its result sooner or later.
