### sense in the lessons

In the Tanakh and Jewish tradition: In the Torah it can mean need or lack, as in the "want of their little ones." In the Psalms and Proverbs it means lacking what you need: "I shall not want" means I will lack nothing, and "want" can come like an armed man. In Daniel "found wanting" means found too light and lacking when weighed. Interpretation: Psalm 23 is read as trust that God the shepherd supplies every need. Daniel's "wanting" is read as God's judgment that King Belshazzar fell short. In the primary lessons: In school maths: a goal amount; the difference between what one has and what one wants; how many more are needed. In everyday life and economics lessons: needs and wants (food is a need, a toy is a want). Phrases: «want to», «want more», «do you want», «wanted poster».

### note

«I want to go», not «I want go». «Would like» is more polite than «want»: «I would like some water, please». Maths: gives a goal; «how many more» = goal − what one has. Trap: the wanted amount is not yet owned, so do not add it to what one has.
