# nominative

«nominative» in Mova's school dictionary: **The form of a noun or pronoun used for the subject of a…** — its meaning for a pupil, its sense in the lessons and examples.

### part of speech

adjective (nominative); noun (the nominative)

### meaning for a pupil

(grammar) The form of a noun or pronoun used for the subject of a sentence, the one doing the action. In English, "I, he, she, we, they" are nominative; "me, him, her, us, them" are not. [tree →](https://md.mova.elamur.ai/free/en/corpora/dictionaries/school/N/nominative/#m1)

### sense in the lessons

A grammar word used when learning languages like Latin, German, Ukrainian or Russian, where nouns change their endings in different cases. In English, it explains why we say "She and I went" (nominative) but "Mum saw her and me".
