### part of speech

noun (the triceps, triceps — same form for one and many)

### meaning for a pupil

The triceps is the big muscle at the back of your upper arm, which straightens your arm at the elbow. [tree →](https://md.mova.elamur.ai/free/en/corpora/dictionaries/school/T/triceps/#m1)

Used in science lessons about muscles and movement: muscles work in pairs; the biceps bends the arm and the triceps straightens it (antagonistic pair). In PE: push-ups work the triceps.
