### note

Regular verb: vaporised in the past. UK and Australia often spell it "vaporise"; the USA spells it "vaporize"; both are correct. Vaporise and evaporate are close: evaporate is used for slow drying at the surface (a puddle), vaporise for any turning into gas, often fast or with heat. Do not confuse with "vapour" (the noun, the gas itself). In science, the mass of water does not vanish when it vaporises: it is still there as gas.
