# Quality and diligence

**Gist.** Do it well, not any old way: check before you hand it over.

**Conditions and exceptions.** Diligence is not slowness for its own sake; fast and correct is diligent too.

**Examples.**

- The Ant and the Grasshopper (Aesop): the ant diligently stores food in summer while the grasshopper sings — in winter the grasshopper goes hungry.
- The SLM itself (design note: a better answer means quality and diligence): an answer that passed independent verification by the core.

**Sources.** Aesop's fables; Col 3:23 ("whatever you do, work at it with all your heart").
