## What it is about

Pipelines for Arabic pass errors from tokenization to tagging to parsing, and a transition parser commits to decisions in a fixed order. The author proposes cross-task flexible transition models (CTF-TMs): one configuration that holds tokens, affixes, tags and arcs, where each action can be taken on any anchor, so uncertain decisions can be postponed (an easy-first strategy). The Arabic model covers clitic separation, affix detection and labelling, POS tagging and labelled dependency parsing, trained with a structured perceptron on a dependency conversion of Penn Arabic Treebank parts 1–3 and broadcast news. On ATB part 3 it reaches 99.3% tokenization accuracy, 95.8 POS F1, 84.9 UAS and 82.0 LAS on the test set, and the author reports these as the highest attachment figures for Arabic on the data used, while noting that the conversion differs from earlier work.

## Ideas

- I1. Let the segmenter keep two split candidates for an ambiguous token and let the parser choose between them, instead of committing to one split before parsing. Test it in `tools/hbo`: `gparse` picks the split, and LAS is compared with the pipeline on `treebanks/hbo/ptnk`.
- I2. Tag clitics and prefixes as separate units with their own labels, as the paper does with its affix anchors and affix labels. For Mova, compare the MACULA morpheme tags in `tools/macula` with a per-prefix label set, and check which tags the parser confuses.
- I3. Report the pipeline's numbers in layers: tokenization accuracy, affix-bound F1, affix-label F1, POS F1, UAS and LAS, as in the paper's table. Use the same layers for every `tools/hbo` run, and keep the test split held out until the release.

## For Mova

I1 is a test for `tools/hbo` (segmenter with `gparse` as the decider). I2 is a tag-set check for `tools/macula` and for the prefix labels in [Pronouns, particles and prepositions](https://md.mova.elamur.ai/free/en/docs/languages/hbo/05-pronouns-particles/). I3 is a reporting rule for every `tools/hbo` evaluation, and the held-out rule applies as usual. The transition system itself is not adopted now: Mova's parser is `gparse`, a biaffine model.
